You should have asked Dad. Dad knew it was the Brown house. He lived there in 1964, moved out in 1974 when they started farming. Then in 1980 we moved back in till 1987. The house was moved there. Moved about 500ft and a basement was added to it.
Seeing this has raised a lot of memories for Dad. Where he slept, how a steer met Oma in the kitchen by coming up through the basement. His mind is just going now. They used to play on the roof, etc., etc. So can we see the show?
I still love that house and its character. Wish we could have it.
I know me too...a trip down memory lane. Dad lived there in 1964-74? I didn't know that. Haha a steer in the kitchen...I believe it! I started digging deeper and deeper to the history there...pretty neat. I remember the snowball tree. Being late for school b/c of all those trains. My windows jiggling like crazy from the trains. The bee hive in the room downstairs. The (yellow?) cabinet that Uncle Jerry or Martin stored downstairs. A hollowed out rat outside of the house. I even remember Dad was grossed out by dead things already then, he wouldn't let us go near it....and it was dead. I remember the cool radiators. And the room with the folding door. And the huge counter in the bathroom (I think it was an unusually high counter maybe?) and the claw foot bathtub. Playing mastermind with dad on the floor. The rotary phone on the wall. Rhea Bulthuis babysitting us. I want to have a look at your photo album now:)
lol, Mom, I remember you letting me sprinkle baby powder on whatever siblings bum it was on that high counter. I guess it was Leanne's tush:)
Funny, I have no recollection of this house ;) Sounds really cool! I would love to see pictures too!
Alrighty, so for anyone wanting to see the episode get the Netflix free month trial. X files Season 4 episode 2 'House' and Supernatural Season 1 Episode 12 'Faith'. You can go along the bar for the time to see when the house comes in the picture, because apparently, what Karen said, the X files one is the creepiest episode. I've never watched X files and am a little worried of being scared!!
x files are creepy all together. I watched that show when I was little and had nightmares for a long time b/c of those shows that my sisters had to watch.
k, I try watch it this week sometime. Key word *try*. If I remember correctly x-files is pretty 'fake' as far as the probability of stuff actually happening...at least that's what I tell myself so I don't get the willies scared out of me! Anyone else going to try? :D
Jen, the big counter was something Gpa made for us b/c there was nothing in the bathroom. It moved a couple times with us too. We cut the back extension so it wasn't so deep.
Your mind went crazy with memories too Jen. Wow.
K... I am super confused!
So this house that we(you) used to live in is in a couple tv show episodes? Why is that such a gorgeous house and I'm not living in it? It looks so perfect! And... who is this Brown guy??
How could us (Bysterveld's) ever have lived in a Heritage house?? How come it's so new looking?? Was it fixed up like that when you folk lived in it??
No Ro they gave it nice paint job. Only the three oldest lived in it. It was part of the farm that they lived on. We moved to Fort Langley before Jeff was around. The fence you see is one we put up though. A little worse for wear but still there.
wow that is so cool! super neat:)
