k ron

Not sure if you all heard yet or not, so here goes.  :)
Yesterday I was just minding my business, pulling weeds, when BAM, I was hit by a racing dog.
Okay, here's the scoop.  I was standing up, pulling weeds, right by Brinley's run (she races alongside cars all day about 12 feet from the road).  A car was approaching, and she took off from the goat pen toward the house.  She smucked me, as I was in her way, obviously... naw, she was looking at the car, I was looking at the ground... She hit the side of my leg right by my knee, knocking me on the ground, with excruciating pain in my left knee.  I heard a "pop", and Andrew who was in the shop heard a "pop" too.  He actually thought the car hit me b/c the "pop" was so loud.
Andrew and the girls loaded me in the van, and after we dropped the girls off, we went to ER.  No broken bones, but the MCL, ACL, and meniscus all seem to be damaged.  I go to the specialist on Wed, and will know more.  Surgery was mentioned, but I will know more after the appointment.  For now I am in a leg brace, and have a crutch to help get around.

funny side note: the nurse told the brace fitter guy, and prescription lady that I was chasing cars, and got hit by a dog.... Oh, and meth users are gross.
That's all, have a good weekend!

Just heard back from the doc about the results of the MR thins morning. My MCL is a complete tear (grade 3 tear) and my PCL is also torn somehow (I dont think as bad). My ACL and meniscus are fine. I also have qute a bit of bone bruising. So I was told to take is really easy, and I see the doc on Thursday.
Have a great weekend! Karen
Here a a video of knee anatomy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTV5Yo3E7VQ
(The MCL is a medial collateral ligament)

So the doc said no surgery for now. I go back in 4 weeks, and in the meantime I get physical therapy. I can't bend my knee 90 degrees, so he can't test to see how bad my PCL is. Once I can bend it 90 degrees, then we will know if the PCL is healing on it's own, or not.
Have a good day!
